Most of PIK and Pluit lands Formerly Shrimp Fond

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama stated that most of land in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) and Pluit, North Jakarta, were formerly a shrimp fond. While, residential construction in the area had obtained permit since 1960s.

Ahok stated, there was a few part of mangrove forest. Even in 1984, it had been damaged due to abrasion. It was remade again by the developer. 

Mangrove Forest in Seribu Island to Be Expanded

"The forest position is small percentage located in the coast. In 1980, the former condition was like that. Then in 1984, the abrasion occurred made the forest damaged. It still exists until now," he expressed. 

He added, all lands in Pluit is loam soil then solidified by the developer to construct the residential. 

"The existing mangrove forest was the contribution of the developer after seeing it is damaged due to abrasion," he disclosed.
